Twitch streamer and rapper Aspen Kartier has the internet buzzing after a video of her seemingly disciplining her dog circulated online. Amid the noise, many have reacted as the 19-year-old faces serious charges following her recent arrest in relation to the incident.
On the night of Friday, January 30, reports circulated online that Aspen Kartier, whose legal name is Aspen Easterlling, had been arrested. According to TMZ, Brookhaven police said they received multiple complaints tied to a circulating video. Authorities added that they gathered enough evidence to obtain both a search warrant for her residence and an arrest warrant. The streamer was reportedly taken into custody around 9:30 p.m.
While the investigation remains ongoing, officials stated that the three-month-old Maltipoo found inside the residence appeared to be in good health. Animal control responded to the scene and took the dog into protective custody.
Following news of Aspen Kartier’s arrest, she was hit with animal cruelty charges and later bonded out. As the case gained attention online, PETA released a statement thanking the public for speaking out and confirmed that they assisted in the investigation. In their statement, PETA shared,
“Update: After a disturbing video circulated online, apparently showing Twitch streamer Aspen Kartier abusing her dog, PETA worked with Brookhaven Police to secure an arrest on cruelty-to-animals charges and the dog’s rescue. Thank you to everyone who spoke out about this case. Never be silent if you see abuse.”
By Monday, February 2, Aspen’s mugshot from her arrest surfaced online, adding to the ongoing conversation.
Around the same time, she also changed her profile picture to an image of her dog.
