Social media is weighing in after Phylicia Rashad shared her thoughts on “the way young ladies dress.”
On Thursday, March 20, ‘The Breakfast Club’ released an exclusive interview with Phylicia Rashad via YouTube. During the conversation, Charlamagne Tha God expressed to Rashad that previously “dignity and grace” were everything.
“Do you ever look at how Hollywood is now and think to yourself, ‘Boy, got it easy — y’all wouldn’t have gotten away with that in my day,'” he asked the actor.
In response, Rashad explained that she doesn’t have to look at Hollywood. Instead, she can just “look at the way young ladies dress.”
“The young ladies are so beautiful — so beautiful!” she said. “And something has happened in popular culture… And I don’t mean to be critical, and I hope young ladies listening don’t take this as personal criticism because I don’t mean it that way. But you’re young queens.”
As she continued, Rashad explained that she’s “taken aback” when she sees “young women dressed in strips of clothing” on college campuses.
“But more importantly than that, no man wants his woman to be out like that,” she said.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Phylicia Rashad made headlines alongside fellow actor Janet Hubert in 2021. At the time, Rashad had reportedly made a social media post advocating for Bill Cosby’s freedom.
Subsequently, Rashad spoke out, addressing her post and the backlash it sparked.
Despite this, Hubert blasted Rashad, letting it be known that she was NOT here for her fellow actor’s support of Cosby.
