Lil Wayne has dropped a major surprise on his fans. Remember when he said he wouldn’t be pulling up to the Super Bowl this Sunday, Feb. 9? Well, it looks like it’s cause he’s got work to do!
In his new Super Bowl commercial, the New Orleans rapper hinted that he’ll be locked in the studio working on ‘The Carter VI.’ Lil Wayne’s fans already know his Carter mixtapes are iconic, and now he’s keeping the series alive by dropping the sixth installment on June 6, 2025.
Wayne dropped a teaser for his new mixtape in a Cetaphil ad, which he shared on Instagram on Thursday, Feb. 6. The commercial shows Weezy swooping in to save awkward moments like a dad meeting his daughter’s boyfriend and finding a condom in his wallet. Another scene has a cringy jumbotron kiss where a woman leans in, but the guy pulls back. The last one shows a dude getting ditched at the club and stuck paying the bill.
In the middle of all of this, Lil Wayne pauses and says, “We’re all a lil sensitive.” Then, his manager rolls up to the studio with Super Bowl tickets and asks if he’s still going. Wayne responds, “Nah, this is time-sensitive.” The camera then shows the studio closing with a “Do Not Disturb” sign and a note about ‘The Carter VI’ dropping 6-6-25.
