Big news for film geeks!
Letterboxd has announced something brand new! The world famous movie diary tracking site has revealed that they will soon be launching a video rental / streaming service called simply the "
Letterboxd Video Store". Described as "our own curated rental spot", the Letterboxd Video Store is a curated rental service to watch new films and old films without having to head elsewhere and find them on another platform. They explain: "This isn't a subscription service! No lock-in, no paywall. Just rent the films you want, whenever you want, and join the conversation with our community logging, reviewing and adding them to lists." We've been huge fans of Letterboxd for a decade or more – and even once added their review widget at the bottom of our reviews (alas it doesn't work anymore). I update
my account daily with whatever I've seen, writing my thoughts, as well as following lists & other reviews. It's one of
the best movie websites out there right now. I'm glad they're shaking things up with something like this – it sounds like a clever way to get people to watch all the films they find and read about on Letterboxd. More details on the news below. //
