"No one's big enough to hold what happens to us." The Forge has revealed the main official US trailer for Kristen Stewart's directorial debut first film titled
The Chronology of Water, which is based on the
book of the same name. This first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and it played at the Vienna & London Film Festivals, though not many others. Now hitting US theaters at the end of the year with more theaters in January. An Olympic swimming hopeful named Lidia flees her abusive home via a Texas scholarship. After losing her scholarship to addiction, she studies further under Ken Kesey in Oregon. Through writing, family, and self-discovery, she overcomes her troubled past. Stewart isn't in the film - she co-wrote and produced and directed it.
Imogen Poots stars as a young woman who finds her voice through the written word & her salvation as a swimmer – ultimately becoming a triumphant teacher, mother and a singular modern writer. The full cast includes
Thora Birch,
Earl Cave,
Tom Sturridge,
Kim Gordon, &
Jim Belushi as iconic novelist Ken Kesey, who mentors Lidia as a writer. I caught this in Cannes and it's pretty bad. All over the place and not very appealing to look at it... Not sure who it's even for? Check it out. //
