Bow Wow is riding hard for Chris Brown after the singer got caught up in a UK arrest over an alleged 2023 nightclub assault. While Chris is now sitting in jail awaiting his June 16 court date, Bow Wow’s pushing the “Free Breezy” movement, assuring that Brown will bounce back from this. Here’s the lowdown..
Bow Wow wasn’t about to let this situation slide without speaking his piece, considering how close he is to Brown. While headed to catch a movie on May 16, he hopped on his Instagram Story to rally for Breezy. “Free Breezy, free Breezy, free Breezy, y’all know we gonna yell it until it actually happens,” he said.
Bow Wow explained that Chris had been minding his business. He flew to Manchester to rehearse for his Breezy Bowl tour before things quickly derailed. “It’s an unfortunate situation,” he shared, adding, “They don’t want to let my dawg be great.” Bow Wow believes this setback won’t last. He confidently stated, “One thing I do know, he’ll be out in no time, he’ll be back doing what he do best.” Additionally, he pointed out that Chris had been lying low, staying out of the media and drama. He said CB’s only focus has been “to tour, please his fans, and take care of his kids.”
Chris was all set to kick off his Breezy Bowl tour in Amsterdam on June 8, so he flew to Manchester to prep for the European leg. But shortly after his arrival, the Metropolitan police rolled up to his hotel and arrested him on suspicion of causing “grievous bodily harm.”
The accuser, a producer named Abe Diaw, says Chris attacked him at Tape nightclub in London back in February 2023. According to Diaw, Chris, who was on tour at the time, smashed a tequila bottle over his head, causing Diaw to hit the floor, per the New York Post. CB allegedly kept the attack going with punches and kicks. Diaw ended up in the hospital and is now coming after Chris’ pockets, filing a lawsuit seeking $16 million in damages.
Then, on Saturday, May 17, the Metropolitan police shared a statement. A second person had been charged in connection with the alleged nightclub brawl. HoodyBaby, whose real name is Omololu Akinlolu, is facing the exact grievous bodily harm charge as Chris following his arrest.
“Omololu Akinlolu, 38, a US national, will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 17 May, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent,” the statement read, per Manchester Evening News. “The charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London, on Sunday, 19 February 2023. A man has already appeared in court in connection with the same matter:
