"I've been wanting to take over this dig for a very long time." Peacock has revealed the official trailer for a new series called
Dig, set for a streaming debut on Peacock coming up
in November. This plays like a wacky sitcom, created by Michael Schur (of "Parks & Rec", "Brooklyn Nine-Nine") and Amy Poehler together, but also plays like an adventure heist thriller movie. Four archaeologists are working at an excavation site in Greece when they discover a secret that puts them in the midst of an international conspiracy. Adapted from the book "
Excavations" by Kate Myers. The book intro sets up the bigger archaeological concept better: "On a remote archeological site in Greece... four women discover an unusual artifact. It's a piece of history that definitely shouldn't exist. And for the head archaeologist in charge, a relic himself, it means something's gone horribly wrong... To figure out what they're really digging for, and to topple the man who wants to hide their history, these dirt-crusted colleagues have to become what they've avoided for years—friends. If they put their own messes aside for one summer, they might just make the discovery of a lifetime." Starring
Amy Poehler,
Geraldine Viswanathan,
Antonia Thomas,
Fina Strazza, &
Hugh Laurie. Well, well – it looks pretty dang good! Should be a fun one to watch this fall/winter. Check out the first look footage below. //
