NFL training camps have officially opened, bringing the familiar mix of position battles, breakout candidates and championship expectation back into focus. However, for the Philadelphia Eagles, this summer carries a little more pressure than usual. The team is attempting to rebound from a frustrating finish to the 2025 season while adjusting to several major changes around quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia finished last season 11-6 and won the NFC East, but its attempt to repeat as Super Bowl champion ended with a disappointing 23-19 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round. The Eagles’ offense scored only 19 points, failed to capitalize on two defensive interceptions and stalled on its final possession with a chance to win the game. The ugly ending raised questions about the offense, its play-calling and whether Philadelphia could recapture the chemistry that carried the franchise to a championship one year earlier.

Those questions only became louder after the Eagles traded star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots. Brown helped Philadelphia reach two Super Bowls during his four seasons with the franchise, but his frustrations with his role in the offense became increasingly public before his departure. Jalen Hurts will now enter the season with DeVonta Smith operating as his top receiving option alongside newcomers such as rookie Makai Lemon and former Green Bay Packers receiver Dontayvion Wicks.

Hurts has attempted to set a new tone from the opening days of camp. The quarterback spoke about the importance of “discipline and unity” and repeated the team’s message of “100 percent alignment, zero entitlement.” He also organized offseason workouts with several of Philadelphia’s skill position players, giving the new-look offense additional time to bond before practices officially began. With Sean Mannion installing another new offensive system, Jalen Hurts’ ability to build chemistry and comfortably command the offense will be one of Philadelphia’s biggest storylines throughout camp.

Still, one of the earliest viral moments from Eagles camp had almost nothing to do with Hurts’ passes, footwork or command of the huddle. Fans instead became fixated on the small digital watch sitting on his wrist. The piece appears to be a silver Timex T80, a retro-inspired digital watch that looks more like something pulled from an old-school department store display than the multimillion-dollar jewelry collection many people expect from a superstar quarterback.

The Timex T80 draws heavily from the brand’s digital designs of the 1980s, featuring a compact rectangular display, stainless-steel bracelet, alarm, stopwatch, calendar and Timex’s signature INDIGLO backlight. Depending on the specific size and version, models in the T80 family generally sell for around $70 to $150, making the watch surprisingly attainable for regular fans. Timex currently offers several silver-toned T80 options, including 34-millimeter and upgraded 36-millimeter stainless-steel models.

That price point makes Hurts’ selection even more interesting when compared with some of the watches he has worn in the past. He has previously been spotted wearing several Rolex models and received a limited-edition Breitling created to commemorate Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LIX championship. That watch, numbered one of only 59 produced, featured an 18-karat red-gold case, an Eagles-green dial and a price reaching approximately $41,000 with the matching gold bracelet.

Hurts has never seemed overly interested in proving his wealth through every purchase, though. Even after signing a five-year, $255 million contract extension in 2023, he has regularly discussed financial discipline, saving money and avoiding unnecessary lifestyle inflation. Rocking an affordable Timex at training camp fits that understated image perfectly. The watch may not have been small, but in an offseason filled with major questions about Philadelphia’s future, Hurts once again proved he does not need the loudest accessory in the room to get everybody’s attention.
