Shannon Sharpe has reportedly been accused of rape and sexual assault with a $50 million lawsuit.
According to NBC Sports, the $50 million lawsuit was reportedly filed against Sharpe on Sunday, April 20. The plaintiff reportedly filed the suit, which allegedly is 13 pages long, as “Jane Doe,” a woman reportedly in her 20s. Additionally, the suit accuses Sharpe of “assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery, and… intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
Per Doe, she and Sharpe allegedly were engaged in a “rocky consensual relationship” for almost two years. During this time, she says, Sharpe recorded their sexual escapades without her consent. Additionally, she accuses him of sharing the films with others. Furthermore, the suit reportedly mentions Sharpe’s viral mishap, which occurred in September 2024, where he later admitted to accidentally livestreaming while having intercourse with an unknown woman.
The suit reportedly notes that Doe was not the woman involved in the incident. However, it sparked her “pull[ing] away from Sharpe.” In turn, Sharpe allegedly “relentlessly pursued” Doe.
This allegedly led to an incident in October 2024, per the lawsuit, where Doe alleges Sharpe forcibly raped her. In January 2025, the lawsuit adds that Sharpe allegedly had unprotected, forcible sex with the plaintiff. Furthermore, the suit notes that when Doe rejected Sharpe’s alleged advances, he “repeatedly threaten[ed] to brutally choke and violently slap her.”
Ultimately, the plaintiff is reportedly seeking $50 million from Sharpe, with expectations that the case may go to trial.
To note, the lawsuit reportedly was filed by attorneys Micah Nash and Tony Buzbee.
“He demanded complete control over her time and body, expecting her to be at his house on his schedule, at his command, whenever he called,” Buzbee reportedly wrote in the suit, per TMZ.
NBC Sports notes that Buzbee “rose to prominence” by representing 20 alleged victims in a case against Deshaun Watson in 2021. However, most recently, Buzbee made headlines for withdrawing from multiple sexual assault cases filed against Diddy for reportedly not being able to practice law in New York, per Houston Public Media.
Additionally, one of the suits filed by Buzbee raised eyebrows after audio surfaced of the plaintiff involved denying their own claims.
Per TMZ, Shannon Sharpe has yet to respond to the outlet’s request for comment on the $50 million lawsuit.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Shannon Sharpe recently made headlines for his recent sitdown with Bobby Brown. Furthermore, Brown went viral for his appearance on ‘Club Shay Shay’ after revealing his true thoughts on Britney Spears’ sample of ‘My Prerogative.’
According to Front Office Sports, last week, it was reported that Sharpe was expected to sign a $100 million deal with Colin Cowherd’s The Volume podcast network. Some users on X, formerly known as Twitter, have shared their thoughts on the validity of the recent suit. Additionally, they shared thoughts on Buzbee’s recent handling of similar sexual assault cases.
