Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old high school student, has been accused of fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf, a fellow student, during a track meet in Texas.
On Wednesday, April 2, the Frisco Police Department published a press release alerting the public about a fatal stabbing. Per the release, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. at a track meet at Kuykendall Stadium.
“An altercation between two students resulted in one stabbing the other. Despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and the administration of blood, the… victim died,” the department asserted.
Per authorities, Anthony was identified as the suspect. Additionally, it was noted that he had been taken into custody.
“He has been charged with Murder, a 1st Degree Felony. No bond has been set at this time,” the department added, noting that an investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
According to NBC 5 DFW, the outlet spoke exclusively with Jeff Metcalf, who confirmed that his 17-year-old son, Austin Metcalf, was fatally stabbed. Per Jeff, the incident unfolded when Anthony, who was allegedly “armed with a knife, got upset after being told he was sitting in the wrong spot.”
Furthermore, the father explained that Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, was “nearby” when the incident unfolded.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms. I rushed up there, and I saw him on the gurney… I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him,” Jeff reportedly told the outlet. “The guy was in the wrong place, and they asked him to move, and he bowed up. This is murder.”
Per the outlet, it remains unclear whether Karmelo Anthony has retained an attorney. Meanwhile, the Metcalf family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Austin’s funeral expenses. Additionally, the funds will reportedly support his twin brother with counseling. To date, the campaign has garnered over $129,000, exceeding its $75,000 goal.

The fatal incident involving 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony and Austin Metcalf is not the only one to make shocking headlines in the last year. As The Shade Room previously reported, in July 2024, footage captured a 13-year-old youth basketball player stomping on an opponent’s head during a game.
Afterward, the victim’s mother reportedly spoke out to share an update on her son’s condition. Simultaneously, it was reported that the 13-year-old and his actions were being defended by his family.
