Ray J is reportedly spending Thanksgiving morning behind bars in Los Angeles. According to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ, the singer ended up in custody after allegedly brandishing a firearm. A clip from Ray’s early morning livestream show Princess Love calling him out for pointing a gun at her. Meanwhile, another clip features his voice warning a man that he has a gun and threatening to shoot him.
As mentioned, this all went down early Thursday morning. It appears Princess Love was at Ray J’s home with their two children, Melody and Epik, to celebrate the holiday. It’s unclear what triggered an argument between the on-and-off couple or what their status was before the confrontation. However, the R&B singer went live from inside his home, sounding off about having the “worst Thanksgiving in the f**king world.”
In a recap video TMZ posted, Ray J claims that someone was trying to take his kids from him. He made it clear that wasn’t happening on Thanksgiving. The video then shows him grabbing something off the table, and seemingly loading it before threatening to “blow this f**king sh*t away,” if anyone stepped toward his room door. It’s unclear which part of the house he’s in. A few moments later, he stands up and the gun becomes visible in the camera.
When Princess Love walks in the room, he asks her if she’s taking his kids, and she confirms. “Watch how they cry,” he tells her, before accusing Princess and her cousin of being drunk alcoholics who planned to “drive drunk” with the kids.
“Ray you just pointed a gun, you just pointed a gun,” Princess responded. “I’m not driving. You just pointed a gun at us…,” she added while holding their 7-year-old daughter, Melody. “All I wanted to do was have a good Thanksgiving.”
As he kept asking why Princess woke up Melody, the mother called him “delusional” and a “woman abuser.” As they kept talking at each other, he warned Princess that she wasn’t leaving with their son. When he seemingly stood near her, a man jumped in and the argument escalated. Princess is also heard telling Ray that she called the police.
When the man jumped into the argument, telling Ray J not to touch Princess Love, the singer immediately threatened him.
“I swear to God, I’ll shoot the f**k outta you. Y’all get out my house,” Ray said, while the man responded, “Shoot me right now.”
At that point, Ray puts the camera down but continues livestreaming. While the screen is black, the audio captures Ray repeatedly threatening the man with gunfire, as the man challenges him to follow through.
“I’ll kill you bro,” the singer also repeatedly said, as a man tells him to “stop it.” It’s unclear if there was more than one man present or if the same man switches up and attempts to calm the R&B star. “Just chill…let go,” a man tells Ray, adding, “I’m trying to help you out.” Meanwhile, Ray J again tells the man to leave his home before he shoots him. At one point, the audio seemingly captures police arriving and asking for “hands up.” A child is also heard screaming and crying.
TMZ is exclusively reporting Ray J’s arrest via police sources. For now, it’s unclear what the singer’s charges are or how long he will be in lockup, given the holiday weekend. However, the outlet reports that he’s in custody in a Los Angeles-area jail.
The 911 call reportedly came in at about 4 a.m. local time, requesting assistance at a home in Porter Ranch. A muffled audio seems to capture Princess Love speaking to cops on the scene, saying her son informed her of the gun, per TMZ. Ray J was allegedly taken into custody after cops cleared the home.
Princess Love has not addressed the incident further since it went viral. Ray J, his reps or loved ones like his sister Brandy also have not spoken out.
