Roommates, we’re heartbroken to share the tragic passing of singer and songwriter, Angie Stone.
Angie Stone’s representative Deborah R. Champagne, confirmed to TMZ that she passed away after leaving a performance in Montgomery, Alabama, early Saturday morning, March 1, when a fatal car crash tragically took her life.
TMZ also says there aren’t more details right now. However, her rep shared that she had just spoken to Angie last night. Furthermore, the news of her passing has left her friends and family absolutely devastated.
WBLS reports that Angie Stone became well-known as part of ‘The Sequence,’ the first all-female group signed to Sugar Hill Records. The group dropped three albums between 1979 and 1985, with their legendary single, ‘Funk You Up.’
Angie went on to start her solo career in the 1980s, releasing her debut album, ‘Black Diamond,’ which featured the chart-topping hit ‘No More Rain.’ She also made waves with classic tracks like ‘Wish I Didn’t Miss You’ and ‘More Than a Woman.’
As soon as news about Angie Stone’s sudden passing dropped, The Shade Rooms’s comment section went wild with love and condolences. Several folks brought up her classic hits, while others said they were straight-up heartbroken.
