The 2025 Streamer Awards sparked major buzz across the timeline. Some creators were escorted out, and several jokes failed to land properly. Some viewers even felt certain moments carried racist or homophobic undertones. Others believed the voting process seemed rigged or unclear. QTCinderella, the streamer and creator behind the Streamer Awards, says she heard every criticism. She now plans to make significant changes for the 2026 ceremony. This, amid her receiving her own backlash for a joke she aimed at Rakai.
QTCinderella sat down with a few of her fellow streamers to recap key moments from the 2025 Streamer Awards. She shared that she plans to live and learn following the backlash. The only moment she wanted to speak on was the joke where she asked Rakai:
“What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever stolen?”
She explained her reasoning clearly, saying, “I didn’t ask that question because he’s Black. I asked that question because he got banned for stealing.”
QTCinderella added that everyone in the room knew Rakai’s Twitch ban was for stealing and that Twitch graciously allowed him to still attend the ceremony. However, she acknowledged that the joke did not translate well to viewers because many people watching did not know why he was banned.
Many folks gathered under The Shade Room Teens to hear QTCinderella’s explanation. Some viewers understood it was meant as a joke. However, many supporters focused on the fact that the jokes simply were not funny.
Instagram user @6mileliyah wrote, “Yeah..let’s leave the jokes to the actual comedians.”
Instagram user @yanna.lynn_ added, “Still distasteful. Read the room!”
While Instagram user @theonna.okay wrote, “It was just cringe for me, but I didn’t think it was because of his race!”

Instagram user @simplymikaylin_ added, “BUT IT WASNT FUNNY…thats the problem I have the ‘jokes’ were just insults…”
While Instagram user @shaek1_ wrote, “We knew why he got banned but why was it turned into a joke ?”
Instagram user @itsprettygod wrote, “Comments are too woke, like it was obvious she meant it bc he got banned yall are just hating to hate”
Instagram user @truly_carvin added, “i thought that was self explanatory?
During a subsequent livestream, Rakai went off. This, as he explained how he wanted to respond to QTCinderella’s “stealing” joke during the Streamer Awards.
“You know what I wanted to say? I was gonna say, ‘Listen b***h, what’s the coolest d**k you ever sucked? Get off my d**k.’”
He also mentioned that he wanted to call her an “ugly b**”. The streamer explained that he held back because he understood the joke stemmed from his recent ban related to illegal activity. Rakai clarified that, despite viewers thinking he stole the followers at Walmart, many, including QTCinderella, did not know his assistant was the one handling the payment behind the scenes.
In the end, he still let his frustration show, saying, “F**k you. Who the f**k you think you playing with?”
While many of Rakai’s supporters rallied behind him after the controversial joke, which some felt unfairly targeted him, his mother was not here for it. After hearing her son vent, she made it clear she did not raise him to speak to women like that. In a video Rakai shared, his mom told him that since he feels like he is grown, she will be getting him a flight to come home.
