It appeared to be a powerful scene outside the courthouse today as Sean “Diddy” Combs’ family attended day one of his trial. Before and after the opening stages, his children and mother were seen around the courthouse sparking reactions.
As Diddy’s federal racketeering and sex trafficking trial kicked off, his mother and children were seen making their way into the courthouse, drawing attention from onlookers. Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, led the way, followed by his six eldest children. The family entered through the main entrance, not escaping attention from the media, onlookers, nor supporters. Dressed in subdued tones, they moved together in silence, offering no comment, but making a clear statement of support.
Inside, Diddy arrived just before 9 a.m. EST, as the court prepared to finalize a 12-member jury. Despite the serious nature of the day, he reportedly appeared confident, greeting his legal team with hugs and flashing a thumbs-up to spectators. And, his family can be seen exiting around 1 p.m. EST together, walking composed, as they made their way through onlookers.
Presiding over the case is Judge Arun Subramanian, appointed by President Joe Biden, as opening statements began early this afternoon. With jury selection now official, including eight men and four women, all eyes were on the Bad Boy mogul and his loved ones.
Social media had plenty to say as Diddy’s family arrived and left court on the first day of his trial. While some praised their outfits and demeanor, others questioned whether his children should have been present in such a high-profile legal setting. Overall, reactions ranged from supportive to critical, with many comparing the moment to an episode of ‘Power.’

As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy was first indicted in September 2024 on serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation with intent to engage in prostitution. As reported, an updated indictment has since added another charge of sex trafficking and an additional count of transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy and his legal team have continued to deny all allegations brought against him.
The trial officially kicked off on May 12 in New York City, with a jury now selected to hear the case. The panel consists of eight men and four women, chosen from a pool of roughly 45 potential jurors. As proceedings commence, all eyes remain on the courtroom as one of hip hop’s most iconic figures faces a legal battle with major implications. And, as the trial continues, we are expected to hear Dawn Richards and a heavily pregnant Cassie Ventura testify, amongst others.
