Kevin Durant has raised a few eyebrows after sharing his thoughts on Super Bowl LIX and Kendrick Lamar‘s halftime show.
On Monday, February 10, sports writer for Arizona Central.com Dana Scott took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a video clip that featured Durant. In the clip, Scott noted that Durant loves hip hop just as much as he loves basketball.
“So what was your take seeing the halftime show yesterday with Kendrick doing ‘Not Like Us,'” Scott asked Durant.
In turn, Durant replied that it “meant nothing” to him.
At that point, Scott noted Durant previously referring to Drake as one of the greats in hip hop. Therefore, he was curious to hear Durant’s thoughts on Lamar’s performance.
“[I have] no thoughts — I didn’t really pay attention to it, to be honest,” Durant explained. “It was a pretty boring day as far as Super Bowl — the game got out of hand; the Super Bowl halftime show was just — I ain’t pay attention to it… I kind of skimmed through the whole thing, to be honest.”
Social media users shared reactions to Kevin Durant’s thoughts on the Super Bowl event and Kendrick Lamar’s performance in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Instagram user @djroyaltyatl2 wrote, “Say you a Drake fan without saying it 😂😂😂”
While Instagram user @candypaynt added, “To be black and say this is why these folks always get the upper hand on us— he could have just said— I didn’t see it. The end.”
While Instagram user @makeitrainna added, “yall just upset KD told no lies lol”
Instagram user @peachiesuze2 wrote, “KDot might pack him up next if he keeps talking like this 😩”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Super Bowl LIX went down in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9. The game ended with the Philadelphia Eagles boasting a 40-22 score against the two-time Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Additionally, Kendrick Lamar took to the stage and fired up the crowd with performances of his hit singles, ‘LOYALTY,’ ‘squabble up,’ and his infamous Drake diss, ‘Not Like Us.’
Ultimately, Lamar’s performance — which also included an appearance from Serena Williams and set alongside SZA — sparked a plethora of internet reactions. This led The Shade Room to break down all the symbolism in Lamar’s show-stopping appearance.
