Roommates, Claressa Shields had plenty to get off her chest during a livestream on Friday (March 14). What started as her addressing her boxing suspension lift turned into her clocking trolls, particularly “light-skinned” women. Shields went IN on both subjects, and the comment sections seemingly clapped back. Here’s a recap of what the almost 30-year-old said.
Claressa Shields Blasts “Light-Skinned” Women For THESE Reasons
As previously reported, Claressa recently shared behind-the-scenes footage of her 30th birthday shoot. One of her looks included her rocking a natural afro with a pink peach rose in her hair. Well, she took to social media wearing that same hairstyle, her usual huge diamond chains, and a black top.
She began by addressing the negative comments she receives about her looks, both natural and what she wears. According to Shields, the majority of her “haters” are light-skinned women. She accused the trolls of having self-esteem issues and projecting them onto her.
“It’s always the light-skinned girls who think they just so pretty and just because they’re born light-skinned, that they’re all that. That they can come over here talking sh*t,” the boxing champ said.
When a live viewer clapped back, saying Claressa thinks she’s pretty, Shields agreed and blocked the person.
“One, I look better than you. So you can get off my sh*t. That’s one and then two, why you on my stuff if you don’t like me? Why? Oh, it’s giving obsessed light-skin, red-bone. Get your funny-looking a*s up outta here. I don’t play with this b***h,” she added.
The clip, obtained and uploaded by LiveBitez, seemingly cut to Claressa Shields doubling down on her point. In her eyes, the “light-skinned women” are who primarily “bother” her.
“I said what I said. They be hating on everything. ‘Oh she just think she so pretty but she got a strong jawline.’ Baby, you see this face. What the hell wrong with you? I’m my ancestors’ dream girl, is you f**king crazy. Stop playing with me,” Claressa said.
Towards the end of the video, Shields softened up her approach. She showed love to a light-skinned woman who did the same in the comment section. “I don’t even mean to come at all light-skinned women forreal, but usually that’s who be inboxing me or who be commenting to me talking stuff,” she said, adding that race or skin color doesn’t matter to her because she can put the paws on any woman and win. She then blocked someone who again came for her physical looks.
“If you a light-skin girl and you love me, I love you too. But I am telling you, some of these light-skinned girls be having like self-esteem problems. And the fact that my self-esteem is up here and theirs is down here, they come f**king with me,” Claressa Shields said before the clip cut off.
Shields Addresses Boxing Suspension Lift
Last month, Claressa Shields was being investigated by the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission for testing positive for marijuana. The undisputed boxing champ had allegedly failed a saliva swab after winning a match against Danielle Perkins. Weeks after the fight, the commission suspended her from practicing the sport in the state. At the time, Claressa heavily denied ever smoking weed and clarified that she wasn’t suspended from the sport as a whole or stripped of her title. She also dropped receipts for a separate urine test that didn’t show any presence of marijuana.
In the latest update, the suspension has been lifted, and the investigation found that she is not a threat to the integrity of boxing. She shared court documents clearing her name on her social media platforms (swipe below to see). In the comment section of TSR reporting the suspension lift, Claressa wrote, “PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY NAME!!!!”
Meanwhile, on X, Claressa weighed the possibility of taking her boxing skills across the seas to Africa. In the comment section of her tweet, she clapped back at folks who doubted she’d actually make THAT move.
“After dealing with what I’ve been dealing with, I’m considering moving out the country, starting a boxing program in Africa & opening a school for underserved kids. I’m really not with the BS the USA be having. Too much racism, sexism and even though everyone yell ‘equality’ there is none. I’ve literally bust my ass to get in the position I’m in, and it’s still people working overtime to try & dim my light,” Shields posted.
