"Run! It's a trap by the shark!" Ahahaha. Yes it is! Utopia has revealed an official trailer for a movie called Hot Spring Shark Attack, a totally bonkers B-movie from Japan about a shark attack an onsen. Yep they really went and made this. The film premiered at the 2024 Tokyo International Shark Film Festival, where it took home the Audience Award. It already opened in Japan last summer, and is finally getting a theatrical run in the US starting in July this summer. There have been cases of mysterious disappearances of onsen visitors in Atsumi City. The victims were eventually found dead with signs of severe injuries to their bodies resembling a vicious shark attack. It turns out ferocious sharks revived from ancient times are now freely moving between the hot springs... Onsen Shark (as it is originally known) stars Takuya Fujimura (also from One Cut of the Dead), Daniel Aguilar, Shôichirô Akaboshi, Masaki Naito, Koichi Makigami, Kiyobumi Kaneko, and Mio Takaki.
