The Knicks and the Sixers have one of the most heated rivalries in the NBA. LeBron James is also about is business.

James may be playing for the Philadelphia 76ers but New York City could still be where he calls home.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the NBA icon is expected to live in New York while suiting up for Philadelphia during the upcoming season. Windhorst claims James plans to commute between the two cities, with helicopter as his preferred means of travel. I do not love this, especially with what happened to Kobe.

The reported setup would be one of the most unconventional living situations for an active NBA superstar. Professional athletes typically relocate to the cities where they play, but the future Hall of Famer can do what he wants.

James signed a two-year minimum contract with the 76ers, ending months of speculation about his basketball future. The move stunned the sports world, including me. The four-time NBA champion joins forces with a Philadelphia franchise eager to contend for another title.

Living in New York would also keep James close to many of his off-the-court business interests. Over the years, the four-time MVP has expanded his portfolio beyond basketball through media ventures, entertainment projects and investments, making New York a convenient base while remaining within commuting distance of Philadelphia. The distance between Manhattan and Philadelphia is roughly 95 miles. While the drive can take more than two hours depending on traffic, helicopter transportation significantly reduces travel time. There is also the train.

I still think he will secretly live in South Jersey. Believe this is just to throw the people off from thinking he is so close. I am certain he knows people are crazy. He wants no part of Philly fans and or haters knowing his whereabouts.

James has spent more than two decades redefining expectations for superstar athletes both on and off the court. That LeBron vs Jordan conversation is about get serious. If he leads the 76ers in Philadelphia to a chip, well…everything changes.

For now, all eyes will be on how the commute works once training camp begins.
