Despite spending the holiday season together, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker appear to be moving forward with their divorce. At least that seems to be the implied energy after she filed a new petition requesting a hearing. According to docs pulled by US Weekly, Burruss wants to determine parenting time and child support. She claims Todd hasn’t been steppin’ up in either category and she wants a judge to weigh in.
Let’s run down what’s happened so far. Kandi filed for divorce on Nov. 21, 2025. A few days later, Todd Tucker responded with his own court petition, seeking primary custody of their children, Ace and Blaze, due to their mother’s busy work and travel schedule. According to the court docs, he seemed open to reaching an agreement with Kandi. However, if that failed to happen, Tucker revealed plans to seek “primary physical custody, joint legal custody and final decision-making authority.” He also questioned the validity of their prenup agreement. Soon after that, Buruss responded with an amended petition. In addition to defending their prenup, she requested primary custody of their nine and six-year-olds and pointed out that he also maintains a busy schedule.
So what’s new here? Well, it looks like the family reunions leading up and amid the holidays weren’t enough for Kandi Burruss. According to US Weekly, Kandi Burruss filed new court docs on Jan. 8, accusing her estranged husband of spending limited time and no funds on Ace and Blaze. She cited their “significant monthly expenses,” from tuition and extracurriculars to a nanny, medical bills, daily needs, travel and even birthday parties.
As previously reported, Kandi and Todd put aside their divorce “mess” to spend Blaze’s 6th birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas together. Burruss has openly admitted that they’re trying to ease their young kids through the transition of the breakup. After the divorce news became public in November, she explained her and Todd’s dynamic during an Amazon livestream.
“We are parents together. We are co-parenting together; we have beautiful children together, so we are trying to make this transition as smooth as it could possibly be for our kids,” Kandi said on Amazon Live. “That is our main concern. We are keeping it very friendly.”
That said, Burruss also admitted the divorce from Todd Tucker has been “brewing for a while.” Since then, she hasn’t been all the way quiet about wanting the split, even when told in a jokey joke. In December, days before Christmas, she laughed on another Amazon Live about an official split being on her wishlist.
This update comes just days after Todd Tucker gave fans a lil’ hope of reconciliation with his estranged wife. To celebrate the new year, he shared a selfie featuring Kandi and their two kids at Great Wolf Lodge. He captioned it, “Happy New Year! Here’s my first SCHEME of 2026! Create and enjoy moments w/ family. The Tuckers.” Instantly, fans went off in the comment section, applauding his energy and seemingly encouraging him to keep their family together.
It’s unclear if Kandi Burruss ever directly interacted with the selfie, but after it got some online attention, she posted a PSA about her energy in 2026. And let’s just say it doesn’t appear that Todd Tucker or “The Tuckers” are what she’s leaning into!
