"The dead have got something to say! And I'm saying it!" Here we go, folks! Warner Bros has revealed the main official trailer for
The Bride!, the highly anticipated creation from the mind of visionary filmmaker
Maggie Gyllenhaal (director of the excellent
film The Lost Daughter). From director Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring
Jessie Buckley &
Christian Bale comes
The Bride! A bold, iconoclastic take on one of the world’s most compelling stories. In 1930s Chicago, Frankenstein's monster asks Dr. Euphronius to create a companion for him. They give life to a murdered woman known as "the Bride," sparking romance, police interest and radical social change. Inspired by Mary Shelley's classic tale, as well as the original
Bride of Frankenstein horror movie from 1935, though this is clearly something brand new from Gyllenhaal's mind. This stars Buckley & Bale, with
Peter Sarsgaard,
Annette Bening,
Jake Gyllenhaal, and
Penélope Cruz. It's set to hit theaters in
March 2026 in just a few more months. Yep, this definitely looks like it's Gyllenhaal's spin on
The Joker, with some shots that are eerily similar, focusing instead on The Bride being our glorious anti-hero instead of Mr. Frankenstein's Monster. This is going to be gnarly! I'm down to watch. //
