It looks like the biggest boss is leaving the door slightly open for peace. During a recent sit-down on ‘The Bootleg Kev Podcast,’ Rick Ross revealed he’s not entirely against the idea of squashing his beef with Drake.
In the interview, Ross kept it cool but honest when asked about the current state of their friendship. While the two rappers were once tight collaborators — dropping hits like ‘Aston Martin Music’ and ‘Money in the Grave’ — their bond seemingly took a hit in recent years. But now? Ross is hinting that the ice may be thawing… just a little.
During the conversation, Rick Ross called the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar beef “necessary” for the culture. But, he sidestepped confirming if his own fallout with Drake stemmed from the rapper’s alleged treatment of French Montana. “I spoke on that in the record. Was it…deep? Nah, f*** that,” Rozay said. Despite their history of collaboration, Ross left the door open for reconciliation. “If it’s real, it’s real…You never know,” he said. Send me a white Belaire bottle, and I’ll take a picture with you,” he can be heard saying.
That’s not exactly a peace treaty, but fans are already buzzing about a reunion. While there’s no confirmation that talks are happening behind the scenes, Ross’ comments seemingly hint that he’s open to the possibility.
Social media had mixed reactions to Rick Ross’ comments. Some fans are here for a possible reunion with Drake, while others feel he switched up too quick. Fans took to Bootleg Kev’s Instagram comment section and are torn between calling it growth or another clout-chasing moment.
One Instagram user @gouldsmash commented, “Coz rick got nothing without a Drake feat”
And, Instagram user @falson_punch2212 said, “What a lame can’t even really say what it was cus he’s a 40 yr old clout chaser…😂”
Instagram user @rico_suave_1991 wrote, “He didn’t have no real beef wit drake any d*mn way”
Meanwhile, Instagram user @juicethemac said, “This dude use drake for his fame and turned his back on the drake. When you can’t tell a man why you mad you just a hater.”
While Instagram user @na.locc said, “Backpeddle gang 😂😂”
Finally, Instagram user @dutchdirty added, “These broads are out of control wit dey cat fights! 🤣”
In early 2024, it became clear that Drake and Rick Ross’s seemingly on-and-off friendship had unraveled again. It began in March when Drake invited one of Ross’s exes to his concert—a move fans quickly clocked as a petty jab. That same month, Ross appeared on ‘We Don’t Trust You,’ Metro Boomin and Future’s project, which many viewed as a shot at Drake due to the album’s anti-Drake energy.
But it wasn’t just about music — Rozay took the beef to another level on social media. Known for his comedic timing, Rick Ross also trolled Drake relentlessly, referring to him as “BBL Drizzy,” mocking his alleged ghostwriting history. “BBL Drizzy called his mommy on me,” Ross joked in an Instagram Story, reacting to leaked texts between Drake and his mother. “Tell your momma you stayed out past your curfew, white boy,” Ross added.
Then came the diss track ‘Champagne Moments,’ which Ross premiered with DJ Akademiks before releasing it officially on April 15. The cover art? The face of a man, seemingly white, who resembles Drake — a continuation of Ross’ racially charged trolling aimed at the 6 God. Things further escalated when Ross was in Drake’s lyrical crosshairs on the diss track ‘Push Ups.’ Drake retaliated at Ross again in ‘Family Matters,’ the diss aimed at Kendrick Lamar, suggesting the tension between the former collaborators was far from over.
