Fans on social media had to do a double take on 21 Savage after the rapper debuted a new hairstyle this week. 21 has ditched the braids he’s rocked his whole rap career. But did he kiss his signature look goodbye for good? His new ‘do screams Snoop Dogg inspo, and y’all, the fans are flooding the comments from left to right!
In a post shared to his Instagram page on Tuesday, April 8, 21 Savage showed out with a selfie rocking his natural grown-out hair. The ‘Redrum’ lyricist was all about that perfect angle, with his eyes locked on the phone, serving face and hair goals. He captioned it, “Thinking about going throwback Snoop on you female dogs.”
Uncle Snoop himself came across the post before sharing his reaction in an Instagram repost. The West Coast icon shared Savage’s selfie with a simple “My dogg,” seemingly giving his stamp of approval. However, Snoop wasn’t the only one feeling it, as Drake and Quavo were also spotted in the Likes section, per Complex.
The Roomies were cutting up in the comments section, sharing their thoughts on Savage’s new look, too.
“Idk it’s giving more like Katt Williams,” Hara.jukubarbieeee wrote.
Another user, @ms.chante_laflare, wrote, “Keep my thoughts to myself . That’s what my momma always told me.”
Additionally, a third person, @nybangaaaa, commented, “He looking more and more British.”
Roomies were also dropping GIF images of Prince and Rick James, clocking that Savage’s grown-out hair got him twinning with the legends.
Seeing Drake showing support by double-tapping the hairdo post comes just weeks after the Canadian showed love to 21 on his new album. Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar’s feud had left some rappers in a difficult spot. While some were out here choosing teams, one person who didn’t switch up their loyalty to Drizzy was 21. On his new album, ‘Some Sexy Songs 4 U,’ with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Drizzy gave his longtime collaborator and friend a shoutout on the track, ‘Gimme a Hug.’ In the song, Drake calls himself Neo from ‘The Matrix,’ dodging bullets left and right. After those lyrics, he slid in a bar for 21. “Savage, you the only n***a checkin’ on me when we really in some sh*t, brother,” he raps.
You might recall that in May 2024, Savage hopped on Instagram Live and shut down all the noise about choosing sides, per Complex.
“Don’t keep coming on to my muthaf****** Live talking about no muthafucking beef,” he clapped back. “Metro my brother and Drake my brother. Those n***as going to figure that shit out eventually.”
