Tichina Arnold is clearing the air after a resurfaced video showed her talking about the “reverse colorism” Tisha Campbell faced on the set of ‘Martin.’ She explained what went down while filming the hit comedy show during an interview with Deon Cole. Now that her comments are going viral, Tisha is weighing in.
If you’ve been out of the loop, let us put you on game. Tichina Arnold hopped on Instagram to apologize to anyone who took offense to her Deon Cole interview. While chopping it up with Deon, she recalled the “reverse colorism” Tisha Campbell dealt with while on the ‘Martin’ show. She said she never wanted to insult anyone and admitted she misspoke. Her ‘Neighborhood’ co-stars, Marcel Spears and Sheaun McKinney, had her back, saying she was just talking about the prejudice she saw happen to someone with a lighter complexion. Tichina added she spoke from experience because she’s dealt with colorism too. In her post’s caption, the actress said she wants to set the right example and will always hold herself accountable.
“My apologies to all that I have insulted regarding my #ReverseColorism statement. We all have opinions but we all have a responsibility to each other as well. I want to be an POSITIVE example who brings people TOGETHER, not DIVIDE them. I will always hold MYSELF accountable first and foremost,” Tichina wrote.
Tichina started going viral after she recalled Tisha Campbell’s experience while filming the first season of ‘Martin.’ She said women would come to the shows, crushing on Martin. Whenever Tisha stepped on set during a scene, nobody would laugh at her jokes, but when she cracked on Martin the vibes were on a 100. Tichina said that showed “reverse colorism,” because the women coming to the show clearly had an issue with Martin having a light-skinned girlfriend.

So where does Tisha stand in all of this? She slid into Tichina Arnold’s Instagram comment section, letting her know she didn’t take her comments the wrong way. Additionally, she said she’s always got her back and knows she meant well.
