"We're a team!" "All system go!" "Roger that." Netflix has unveiled the first look teaser for a new whodunit comedy called
The Thursday Murder Club, arriving to watch
on streaming in
August later this summer. From
Home Alone / Harry Potter director Chris Columbus, the film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership. It's adapted directly from Richard Osman's bestselling
novel of the same name - the first in his TMC mystery series. Four irrepressible retirees spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their causal sleuthing takes a thrilling turn when they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. "When a local developer is found dead with a mysterious photograph left next to the body, the Thursday Murder Club suddenly find themselves in the middle of their first live case." The "club" features
Helen Mirren,
Pierce Brosnan,
Ben Kingsley,
Celia Imrie. And the full cast includes
Naomi Ackie,
Daniel Mays,
Henry Lloyd-Hughes,
Tom Ellis,
Jonathan Pryce,
David Tennant,
Paul Freeman,
Geoff Bell,
Richard E. Grant, and
Ingrid Oliver. It almost seems like they're about to solve a case at the Downton Abbey - that can't be the same building? Probably not though reminds me of it. //
