As The Shade Room previously reported, in March of 2024, Epps made headlines when he reflected on filming ‘All About The Benjamins’ alongside Ice Cube. Additionally, Epps explained that prior to the film, he served time for drug possession. After breaking into Hollywood, he said he experienced survivor’s remorse and coped by using cocaine.
“…Man, I used to sit in Ice Cube’s trailer in the morning and be crying tears. He like, ‘Mike, wipe your face, man. You a king, n***a. Stop doing this s**t to yourself.’ … I was so sad that I left all them n****s here in the city, and I was famous. And when I would come home, I wanted them to be happy for me. And they was mad at me. So, I said, ‘Damn I gotta destroy myself for you to like me,'” Epps said in part while appearing on Stephen Jackson’s ‘All the Smoke’ podcast.
