Joycelyn Wilson, a Spelman math instructor, and her fiancé, Gary Jones, a high school coach, reportedly vanished on February 8th while boating on Lake Oconee in Georgia.
Wilson’s body was reportedly floating in the lake the next day. However, Jones has been missing ever since. Additionally, the couple’s boat, floating shoes, and a cell phone have left investigators puzzled.

More Details On Joycelyn Wilson & Gary Jones’ Boating Trip On Lake Oconee
According to Carter, Wilson and Jones traveled to Lake Oconee to celebrate Jones’ 50th birthday. To date, authorities are wondering what happened to the couple. Additionally, their questions have been left unanswered due to the lake’s murky, debris-filled water, combined with its freezing temperatures. This has reportedly prevented cadaver dogs from picking up the scent of a human body.
Nonetheless, authorities have obtained surveillance footage showing the couple putting the boat into the water around 3:30 p.m. on February 8. Per Carter, the timing of the couple’s extradition appears unusual as the sun was set to go down around 6:12 p.m.
Around 5:30 that day, the couple’s boat was discovered idling, running in a circle.

According to Carter, Wilson was discovered the next day, floating with her cell phone in hand. At this time, it appears authorities do not believe she drowned. However, the results of an autopsy performed on her body are reportedly being withheld.
