Just hours after DDG filed court documents on Wednesday, May 4, X users were quick to sound off on the situation. One post from @studlov3r set the platform ablaze, garnering nearly one million views. The tweet included a screenshot of a PEOPLE headline that read, ‘Halle Bailey Opens Up About ‘Severe Postpartum Depression Following Birth of Son Halo.’’
The article referenced Halle opening up about her postpartum experience on her Snapchat. It was published on April 24, 2024, just one month after Halle allegedly sent DDG a slew of texts on March 21, 2024. The social media user was responding to a tweet of a screenshot from DDG’s court docs, where Halle allegedly wrote a series of texts that read the following:
“U DON’T STEP UP WHEN I NEED U TO. I’M BEGGING U!!! I JUST FOUND OUT U SLEPT WITH LALA IN MEXICO. IM GOING TO KILL MYSELF TONIGHT. MY SON WILL NOT BE AROUND FOR IT. I HATE U FOREVER. YOU CAN HAVE HIM LET HER BE HIS MOM.”
Additionally, the tweet highlighted the timeline of events, prompting fans to quickly connect the dots between Halle’s Snapchat reveal and the alleged texts DDG included in his court filing. Here are some examples of the energy on X amid Halle’s fans, with many recalling Bailey’s vulnerable public share.
X user @JustTekorah wrote, “A woman going through postpartum depression and having thoughts of suicide isn’t a ‘gotcha’ moment.”
Meanwhile, X user @urbanpeaches tweeted, “DDG seems unaware of what postpartum depression is, which is evident.”
@WickedNFine added, “She shared publicly a month after this that she was going through severe postpartum depression & he was so nonchalant…”
we actively saw small signs of halle going through PPD so those messages aren’t shocking to me at all and they shouldn’t be used to villainize her.

As previously reported, Halle didn’t hold back when she opened up about how motherhood had flipped her world upside down in ways she wasn’t prepared for. The ‘Do It’ singer got candid about battling “severe, severe postpartum [depression]” after giving birth to her son.
She admitted, “I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad, and it’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out.”
Halle also shared how becoming a mom changed how she saw herself. While she deemed Halo a “miracle” she couldn’t separate herself from, she lost her self-confidence after her pregnancy and couldn’t even recognize herself when she looked in the mirror. “I feel like a completely different person. When I look in the mirror, I just feel like I’m in a whole new body. Like, I don’t know who I am,” she shared in her Snapchat video post.
The actress went on to explain how postpartum depression hit her harder than she ever expected. Though she had heard about it from other women, it was never something she paid attention to until experiencing symptoms so heavy that it left her in a very dark place.
“Now going through it, it almost feels like you’re swimming in this ocean that’s like the biggest waves you’ve ever felt, and you’re trying not to drown,” she said. “And you’re trying to come up for air.” The 25-year-old made it clear that her struggles had nothing to do with her love for Halo but everything to do with navigating her new reality as a mom.
The alleged text messages from March 21, 2024, paint an even more intense picture behind the scenes. Court docs include timestamped texts spanning from about 11 a.m. that day until after 11 p.m. Halle largely implied self-harm, and sent back-to-back messages, sometimes a few during one-minute time spans. Bailey was allegedly outside DDG’s home with Halo in the last few texts that night, begging him to take their son. “I AM GIVING YOUR SON,” she allegedly wrote. “PLEASE I DON’T WANT HIM AROUND […] PLEASE TAKE HIM FROM ME. I DON’T WANT HIM TO SEE ME LIKE THIS. I’M BEGGING YOU.”
DDG responded by saying he didn’t feel it was safe for her to be around him, given her state of mind and his having guns at his house. The back-and-forth continued while Halle and Halo were allegedly outside the property, per the timestamped texts.
“Me and Halo are in the cold. And you won’t let us in ur house. Are u serious?? I’m here in my pajamas in the cold, and you won’t let us in ur house. Wow. Ok. I asked for help. I asked u to take Halo from me right now. And u won’t. Instead, u leave us in the cold. U will never hear from me again,” Halle wrote in a series of separate texts.
DDG fired back, reiterating why he wasn’t allowing her into his home and that it would be wiser for her to leave. “Please just go home, and we’ll figure it out,” he wrote.
